Summary
Our initial product is Breakroom Show, a daily trivia show with cash prizes in Solana. You need to set up a crypto wallet to play. The payouts are sent with USDC.
Unlike almost any other game in crypto, Breakroom is completely free to start and doesn’t provide much advantage to experienced players, making it fun for newcomers. However, it still works fully on-chain and allows to introduce new people to self-custody and crypto ecosystem.
Longer term, we are making infrastructure for frictionless onboarding to self-custody as a service for developers and communities. We will tackle the onboarding complexity through “an onboarding SDK” for web3 developers: hosted gasless relayer, adaptive product and content flows, ecosystem suggestions, thorough localization and community-powered support.
We treat Breakroom Show as our testing ground to bootstrap our onboarding infrastructure product. The shows are inherently viral and attract people from different backgrounds and countries — it allows us to build the universal flow and form community around the product.
Technical detail: free transactions are possible with secure gasless relayers on Solana. Basically, we would be sponsoring transactions for newcomers. Octane doesn’t compromise decentralization or self-custody.
